In web development, your application code (Python, JavaScript, Ruby) works with objects — structured bundles of data and behaviour. But your database speaks SQL — a completely different language based on tables, rows, and columns. These two worlds need to talk to each other constantly.

An Object-Relational Mapper (ORM) is a library that acts as a translator between your code objects and your SQL database. Instead of writing raw SQL strings, you interact with the database using your programming language's native objects and methods. The ORM converts your code into SQL behind the scenes.

💡 Analogy: Google Translate for Databases

Imagine you only speak English and you need to communicate with someone who only speaks Japanese. You could learn Japanese (learn SQL), or you could use Google Translate (use an ORM). The ORM lets you "speak" in your programming language, and it translates to the database's language (SQL) automatically.
